About the varieties
The Chinese strawberry trees Cudrania tricuspidata are special fruit trees known for their striking red-orange fruits with a sweet, aromatic flavour. The trees grow best in a sunny, sheltered position in well-drained soil and are, once established, low-maintenance and highly drought-tolerant.
In spring, the Chinese strawberry trees bloom with small greenish-yellow flowers that attract bees and other pollinators. The female cultivar 'Female Hu' develops the striking red-orange fruits after pollination, while 'Male Hu' acts as the male pollinator and provides the pollen. The trees grow best in a sunny, sheltered position and are a special addition to any edible garden.
