How do I plant my tree?

Step 1:

Make a planting hole twice the size of the tree's root ball/pot.

Step 2:

Break up the walls of the dug hole with the shovel.

Step 3:

Add a planting hole improver if required.

Step 4:

Plant the tree as high as it was in the container.

Step 5:

Make a raised border around the tree with soil for easy watering.

Step 6:

Place two tree stakes a 30cm from the tree and attach them to the stakes with natural binding material.

Step 7:

Clear a 1-metre diameter tree bed of plantings and keep it that way for the first few years.

Step 8:

During the dry period, water densely, on average 10 litres once a week. If in doubt, always contact us.

A planting leaflet is included with every delivery.

Advice:

The average walnut tree does not like a wet location, so make sure you plant it at a slightly higher spot in your garden so that the tree does not end up in a puddle of water during the winter.

About the nut

The Corylus avellana Lang Tidlig Zellernoot has a beautiful light brown, smooth shell that provides good protection against damage and moisture. After ripening, the nuts turn yellow-green to light brown. Inside the nut is a cream-coloured kernel, which is firm and crunchy in texture. The nut has an aromatic and mildly sweet taste and is typically hazelnutty. They also keep well and are widely used as an ingredient in recipes.
