The Juglans r. Mars
The Mars walnut tree is a selection from Žleznice (Czech Republic). The tree grows slowly in its youth. It is one of the better varieties from the Czech Republic that performs above average in the Netherlands. The tree flowers late in the season and is a self-pollinator. Suitable for private garden, plantation and application in agroforestry. Also does well in colder regions. Unlike Juglans regia Jupiter, Juglans regia Mars is very suitable for planting in our region.
Quality of note
The tree produces a nice somewhat large nut with a slightly hard shell that does crack well. The nut can be eaten fresh or stored for up to a year.
