How do I plant my tree?

Step 1:

Make a planting hole twice the size of the tree's root ball/pot.

Step 2:

Break up the walls of the dug hole with the shovel.

Step 3:

Add a planting hole improver if required.

Step 4:

Plant the tree as high as it was in the container.

Step 5:

Make a raised border around the tree with soil for easy watering.

Step 6:

Place two tree stakes a 30cm from the tree and attach them to the stakes with natural binding material.

Step 7:

Clear a 1-metre diameter tree bed of plantings and keep it that way for the first few years.

Step 8:

During the dry period, water densely, on average 10 litres once a week. If in doubt, always contact us.

A planting leaflet is included with every delivery.

Advice:

The average walnut tree does not like a wet location, so make sure you plant it at a slightly higher spot in your garden so that the tree does not end up in a puddle of water during the winter.

About Corylus colurnoides Morriska

Corylus colurnoides 'Morriska' is a vigorous, hardy hybrid hazel that stands out from the common hazel due to its stronger growth, greater disease resistance, and reliably high yield. The tree bears large, flavorful hazelnuts and grows into a sturdy tree with a beautiful, upright crown. Thanks to the combination of good nut quality, vigorous growth, and high yield, Morriska is an excellent choice for both hobby gardens and food gardens.

 


Nut Quality

Morriska’s hazelnuts are large, have a rich, sweet flavor, and are easy to crack. They are delicious eaten fresh or used in a variety of dishes. For a good harvest, we recommend planting another variety alongside it, such as Corylus Freeoka, Chinoka, Dundee, and various other varieties.
