About the Kalleh Ghouchi Pistachio Tree
Pistacia vera Kalleh Ghouchi is a distinctive pistachio tree variety known for its extra-large pistachio nuts. The tree has an elegant growth habit with fresh green, pinnate leaves. With proper pollination, this female variety can produce a generous harvest of delicious pistachios.
The pistachio tree grows best in a warm, sunny and sheltered location with well-drained soil. For fruit production, a male pistachio tree with an overlapping flowering period is required, such as Lanarka or Peter. As our pistachio trees are grafted onto UCB1 rootstock, they are also hardy down to -15°C.
Nut Quality
The pistachios of Pistacia vera Kalleh Ghouchi are known for their extra-large, round shape and rich, full flavour. During ripening, the hard, light-coloured shell often splits open naturally, revealing the green kernel inside. The nuts have a delicious, crunchy texture and taste excellent both fresh and roasted. They are also ideal for baking, desserts and other dishes.
