About Cudrania tricuspidata Pathenos
The Chinese Strawberry Tree Cudrania tricuspidata 'Parthenos' is a special, self-fertile fruit tree that does not require a pollinator. For a higher fruit yield, however, it is recommended to plant a pollinator alongside it. In late summer, it produces striking red-orange fruits with a sweet, aromatic flavour. The tree grows best in a sunny position in slightly acidic to neutral soil that is well-drained and is a beautiful addition to any edible garden.
Fruit quality
The fruits of the Chinese Strawberry Tree are round, strikingly red-orange and have a distinctive bumpy appearance reminiscent of a strawberry. The flesh is juicy, soft and has a sweet, aromatic flavour with subtle notes of fig and watermelon. The fruits are delicious eaten fresh and are also suitable for jam, juice or desserts.
