How do I plant my tree?

Step 1:

Make a planting hole twice the size of the tree's root ball/pot.

Step 2:

Break up the walls of the dug hole with the shovel.

Step 3:

Add a planting hole improver if required.

Step 4:

Plant the tree as high as it was in the container.

Step 5:

Make a raised border around the tree with soil for easy watering.

Step 6:

Place two tree stakes a 30cm from the tree and attach them to the stakes with natural binding material.

Step 7:

Clear a 1-metre diameter tree bed of plantings and keep it that way for the first few years.

Step 8:

During the dry period, water densely, on average 10 litres once a week. If in doubt, always contact us.

A planting leaflet is included with every delivery.

Advice:

The average walnut tree does not like a wet location, so make sure you plant it at a slightly higher spot in your garden so that the tree does not end up in a puddle of water during the winter.

About Elaeagnus multiflora 'Leonore'

Elaeagnus multiflora ‘Leonore’ is a prolific, self-pollinating olive willow known for its bright red, fairly large berries and reliable yield. In the spring, the shrub blooms with fragrant creamy-white flowers that attract many bees and other pollinators. The berries ripen in the summer and have a fresh, sweet-and-sour flavor, making them suitable for eating fresh or for use in jams, juices, and desserts. For optimal growth and fruit development, this variety prefers a sunny to partially shaded location in well-drained soil.

 


Berry Quality

The fruits of Elaeagnus multiflora ‘Leonore’ are bright red and have juicy flesh with a fresh, sweet-and-sour flavor. The berries are larger than those of Elaeagnus umbellata varieties and are delicious eaten fresh, as well as excellent for jam, juice, and other preparations. To increase the yield, it is recommended to plant a second variety alongside it.
