How do I plant my tree?

Step 1:

Make a planting hole twice the size of the tree's root ball/pot.

Step 2:

Break up the walls of the dug hole with the shovel.

Step 3:

Add a planting hole improver if required.

Step 4:

Plant the tree as high as it was in the container.

Step 5:

Make a raised border around the tree with soil for easy watering.

Step 6:

Place two tree stakes a 30cm from the tree and attach them to the stakes with natural binding material.

Step 7:

Clear a 1-metre diameter tree bed of plantings and keep it that way for the first few years.

Step 8:

During the dry period, water densely, on average 10 litres once a week. If in doubt, always contact us.

A planting leaflet is included with every delivery.

Advice:

The average walnut tree does not like a wet location, so make sure you plant it at a slightly higher spot in your garden so that the tree does not end up in a puddle of water during the winter.

The Broadview

Walnut tree Juglans regia Broadview is a selection found in British Columbia (Canada 1930) on the Broadview farm. Suitable for general use. Planted for decades in the Netherlands as a standard variety. Has green leaves and a yellow autumn colour. Broadvieuw Flowers mid-season, is a self-pollinator and asexual reproduction also occurs. For a walnut, a smaller-sized tree (8 to 10 metres after 12 years). By planting the Broadview walnut tree, you get a healthy and smaller-growing tree that will do well in most locations. A fun fact is that Juglans regia “Broadview” has the property of repelling mosquitoes.

 

Quality note

Broadview produces nice good nuts, ripen from the 2nd half of September and are suitable for fresh consumption, as well as for storage. Broadview is suitable both for private use and also for planting in a plantation.
