About the Purpurea
The walnut tree Juglans regia Purpurea is distinguished from all other walnut trees by its glossy red leaves during sprouting in spring. Its distinctive dark red leaves make this tree unique. A true lover's tree. This tree was discovered in 1938 and is extremely suitable as an ornamental tree in parks or the (smaller) garden. The tree is difficult to breed but available in our online shop.
Quality of the nut
The sweet nut has a dark red husk but the kernel is normal in colour. The Purperea produces fewer nuts than an ordinary walnut tree.
