About Corylus A. Rote zellernuss
The Corylus avellana Rote zellernuss hazelnut tree is an elegant tree with beautiful dark red leaves. The hazelnut tree is not self-pollinating, so it is advisable to plant another tree nearby, e.g. Halle'sche Riesen, for better fruit production. Without a pollinator, little to no fruit will be produced. The tree can be planted in a pot or in the ground. The tree is hardy (down to approx. -20°C).
About the nut
Whereas many hazelnuts have a standard light brown colour, this variety often has a reddish-brown to warm mahogany colour. The nut is medium-sized and oval. These hazelnuts are known for their aromatic, deep, rich and full hazelnut flavour. The nut can be eaten fresh or used as an ingredient in various recipes.
