Corylus a. Pendula
The Corylus avellana Pendula hazelnut tree is suitable as an ornamental tree for the garden. Corylus A. Pendula is also known as the weeping hazel because of its drooping branches that fall down like a green waterfall. The average height of the tree is approximately 2-3 metres. The leaves of the hazelnut tree are round to heart-shaped with a fresh green colour. The Corylus A. Pendula is not self-pollinating, so it is recommended to plant another hazelnut tree nearby. The hazelnut tree is hardy (down to approx. –30°C)
About the nut
The nut of the Corylus A. Pendula is round to slightly oval, has a light brown colour with a hard shell and is covered with a thin reddish-brown skin. The nut has a milky and aromatic, slightly sweet and mild flavour. The taste is similar to that of natural wild hazelnuts. The nut can be eaten fresh and is used as an ingredient in many dishes.
