How do I plant my tree?

Step 1:

Make a planting hole twice the size of the tree's root ball/pot.

Step 2:

Break up the walls of the dug hole with the shovel.

Step 3:

Add a planting hole improver if required.

Step 4:

Plant the tree as high as it was in the container.

Step 5:

Make a raised border around the tree with soil for easy watering.

Step 6:

Place two tree stakes a 30cm from the tree and attach them to the stakes with natural binding material.

Step 7:

Clear a 1-metre diameter tree bed of plantings and keep it that way for the first few years.

Step 8:

During the dry period, water densely, on average 10 litres once a week. If in doubt, always contact us.

A planting leaflet is included with every delivery.

Advice:

The average walnut tree does not like a wet location, so make sure you plant it at a slightly higher spot in your garden so that the tree does not end up in a puddle of water during the winter.

The Redman

A nice special selection originating from the Betuwe region known for its fruit cultivation including nut cultivation. This variety is a natural cross between well-known improved cultivars. This naturally healthy tree grows relatively quickly and, like the other Juglans species, does not like being too wet.

 

Quality note

The red nut is nicely filled, good for drying and long storage.

The nut has an average length of 3.5 - 4 cm, can be cracked by hand and the flesh is easy to remove from the shell.

The nut has a mild flavour and is extra healthy due to the presence of anthocyanin an organic red dye.

This beautiful red colour is retained after processing in dishes. It is therefore particularly suitable for garnishing and/or topping various savoury and sweet dishes.
