Asimina triloba ‘Lefviv’, also known as ‘Susquehanna®’, is a unique fruit tree native to North America. This hardy variety is known for its very large fruits, creamy flesh, and sweet flavor. The tree has large, fresh green leaves and blooms in the spring with striking dark red-purple flowers. This fruit tree grows best in a sunny to partially shaded location in nutrient-rich, well-drained soil. ‘Lefviv’ is not self-pollinating and requires another Asimina triloba cultivar for good fruit set.
Fruit Quality
The fruits of Asimina triloba ‘Lefviv’, also known as ‘Susquehanna®’, are very large, averaging between 300 and 500 grams. They have creamy, yellow flesh with few seeds. The flavor is deliciously sweet and reminiscent of a combination of banana, mango, and vanilla. The fruits ripen in September and October and are delicious eaten fresh.
