About the varieties
De Nootsaeck recommends planting these three varieties together to ensure better pollination. These three hazel varieties produce delicious, flavourful hazelnuts, with the Rote Zellernuss yielding a beautiful red hazelnut. Thanks to our special propagation method and choice of rootstock, these plants are free from the nuisance and damage caused by ‘suckers’. This means the hazelnut tree can truly be grown in a tree-like form.
Corylus Rote Zellernuss
One of the most distinctive varieties in the hazelnut family is the Rote Zellernuss. This variety produces red catkins in winter, has red foliage in summer and yields purple coloured fruits in autumn!
Corylus 'Fercoril' CORABEL
The Corylus Corabel is one of the hardier growers in the hazelnut family. This variety is also widely planted for its tasty nuts and is, at the same time, a good pollinator for other hazelnut varieties.
Corylus Halle'sche Riessen
Corylus Halle'sche Riessen produces a high yield of tasty nuts. This variety combines well with Corylus Corabel and also produces beautiful yellow catkins in winter.
