How do I plant my tree?

Step 1:

Make a planting hole twice the size of the tree's root ball/pot.

Step 2:

Break up the walls of the dug hole with the shovel.

Step 3:

Add a planting hole improver if required.

Step 4:

Plant the tree as high as it was in the container.

Step 5:

Make a raised border around the tree with soil for easy watering.

Step 6:

Place two tree stakes a 30cm from the tree and attach them to the stakes with natural binding material.

Step 7:

Clear a 1-metre diameter tree bed of plantings and keep it that way for the first few years.

Step 8:

During the dry period, water densely, on average 10 litres once a week. If in doubt, always contact us.

A planting leaflet is included with every delivery.

Advice:

The average walnut tree does not like a wet location, so make sure you plant it at a slightly higher spot in your garden so that the tree does not end up in a puddle of water during the winter.

The Juglans No. 16

Walnut tree No.16 is a selection from Michigan (USA). The tree has normal vigour and likes a sunny location. The large, broad and upright crown has branches that can sag to the ground. Juglans regia Nr.16 is a good hardy tree and is self-pollinating. Because the tree remains somewhat smaller, it is also suitable for gardens.

 

Quality of note

The nuts are elongated, deeply grooved and fairly large. The flavour of the nut is good and, due to its oil content, it keeps for a long time.
